类金属性CoCeOx与CdS构建肖特基结以实现稳定的光

研究背景与问题

In the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions, photovoltaic (PV) systems have gained significant attention. However, the efficiency of these systems is often limited by the energy loss during charge separation and transport in the active layer. To address this issue, the development of novel semiconductor materials and interfaces is crucial. In this study, we focus on the construction of a Schottky junction using CoCeOx, a material exhibiting metallic-like characteristics, in combination with CdS for enhancing the stability and efficiency of photovoltaic cells. The primary challenge lies in the efficient separation and transport of photogenerated carriers, which is hindered by recombination losses and poor charge carrier mobility. The development of a Schottky junction between CoCeOx and CdS aims to overcome these limitations by creating an internal electric field that facilitates the separation and rapid transport of electrons and holes.

研究方法

The research methodology involves a comprehensive approach that combines experimental characterization and theoretical analysis. Firstly, the metallic-like properties of CoCeOx were confirmed through ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy and theoretical bandgap analysis. Subsequently, the Schottky junction was formed by depositing CoCeOx and CdS layers onto a suitable substrate. The structural and morphological properties of the resulting Schottky junction were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The optical properties were studied using photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and photovoltaic measurements. Furthermore, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to investigate the electronic structure and charge transfer mechanisms at the CoCeOx/CdS interface. The optical absorption coefficient and carrier lifetime were also estimated to understand the light absorption and charge separation dynamics.

核心结果

The results of our study demonstrate that the CoCeOx/CdS Schottky junction exhibits a significant improvement in photovoltaic performance. The metallic-like characteristics of CoCeOx facilitate the formation of a robust Schottky barrier, which effectively separates the photogenerated electrons and holes. The UV-Vis absorption spectrum shows a redshift in the bandgap of CoCeOx compared to CdS, suggesting a better matching of the conduction bands between the two materials. The theoretical calculations confirm the existence of an internal electric field at the interface, which enhances the separation and transport of charge carriers. Photoluminescence measurements indicate a decrease in the radiative recombination rate, while photovoltaic measurements demonstrate a higher open-circuit voltage and a reduced current loss, indicating improved overall device performance. The enhanced stability of the Schottky junction was also observed under prolonged illumination, suggesting its potential for long-term application in photovoltaic devices.

结论与意义

In conclusion, the construction of a Schottky junction using CoCeOx and CdS has proven to be an effective strategy for achieving stable and efficient photovoltaic performance. The metallic-like properties of CoCeOx, combined with the appropriate band alignment with CdS, enable the formation of a robust Schottky barrier that promotes efficient charge separation and transport. This study not only provides insights into the fundamental mechanisms of charge transfer at the CoCeOx/CdS interface but also offers a promising approach for the development of next-generation photovoltaic devices with improved stability and efficiency. The findings are of significant importance for the advancement of renewable energy technologies and the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.
